Mphasis is hiring Underwriters and QC underwriters with 2+ years of relevant experience in US mortgage industry.
JOB Description for Underwriters:
Perform complete and in-depth review of mortgage loan files including; income, assets, credit and collateral
Utilize clients loan operating system to ensure accurate data entry
Underwrite loans in accordance with client guidelines; utilizing AUS or manual guidelines
Evaluate and ensure overall loan documents are accurate, complete, and compliant
Ability to identify and/or clear ref flag or alerts
Issue loan decision and condition file accordingly
Review and approve conditions for compliance and completion of loan file
Provide excellent customer service to internal and external clients
Maintain current knowledge of client and investor requirements
Resolve pre and post-closing issues as they relate to underwriting
Assist Processors/Loan Officers in understanding underwriting decisions and conditions
Minimum 2+ years current conventional mortgage loan underwriting experience
o Strong knowledge of income calculations, tax returns, reading credit reports, identifying red flags
o Basic knowledge of appraisal and ability to recognize red flags and ineligible properties
Thorough working knowledge of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac underwriting guidelines and automated underwriting engines (DU/LP)
Strong analytic, interpersonal, and verbal and written communication skills
JD for QC Underwriters
Review and provide Quality Assurance feedback on loan file reviews completed by internal staff
Follow quality assurance policies and procedures to ensure compliance with scopes of work
Must be able to fulfill the role of subject matter expert for the team and scope assigned
Assist with required and/or identified training needs as it relates to quality assurance
Quality Assurance Reviews encompass but is not limited to the following:
Review employment documentation and re-calculate income documentation for completeness and accuracy per guideline requirements
Review credit report and re-calculate liabilities
Review title commitments and policies
Review and analyze borrowers mortgage application and related documents
Review and analyze real estate purchase contracts
Analyze individual loan files and determine compliance with client Review Plan, applicable lender guidelines and loan approval
Perform Appraisal Reviews for completeness, health and safety issues
Identify all red flags within a loan file and ensure they are addressed accordingly
Must have demonstrated current acceptable production and quality rating metrics
3+ years front end underwriting and/or QC experience
Must have demonstrable, relevant skills and experience in quality assurance support and practices in the mortgage loan industry
